In this story of reclaimed justice Wayne early separates himself from the herd as Steve Pickett the only cowpuncher at the Diamond Bar Ranch who's not buffaloed by Utah Becker (Wheeler Oakman) and his band of rustlers who've been robbing Helena Rawlins (Shirley Grey). Her husband Jim long a champion of the townsfolk of Stampede Arizona had disappeared under mysterious circumstances five years earlier.
