Based on the famous cartoon strip by Chester Gould. This was the initial entry of the Dick Tracy serials from Republic Pictures in 1937. One of his villainous plans is to destroy the new Bay Bridge (which looks suspiciously like the Golden Gate) by bombarding it with high-frequency sound waves from his stratospheric aircraft, "The Wing". Fiend of Dope Island (1961, 76 min.) - Former screen Tarzan Bruce Bennett is the Fiend of Dope Island, a sadistic maniac named Charlie Davis who lords over a tiny Caribbean isle with his trusty bullwhip. Not content with smuggling guns and growing marijuana, Charlie also hires sexy dancer Glory La Verne to "entertain him" at his flea-shack of a cantina. Instead, Glory zeroes in on Charlie's main man, Davey, and the two lead a native uprising against Charlie who retaliates by going... well, completely berserk. "Pagan Island" (1960, 58 min.) - Shipwrecked sailor William Stanton finds himself the only man among a tribe of semi-naked man-hating women when he washes up on Pagan Island! Falling in love with Nani Maki, "the bride of the Sea God," he soon discovers that his rival for her affection is...a giant clam.

Hopalong Cassidy - Rustlers' Valley / Texas Trail

Rustlers' Valley (61 min.) - One of Hoppy's best friends is the main suspect in a bank robbery and, despite his innocence, is hunted down by a sheriff's posse. Determined to find the true perpetrator of the crime, Hoppy deals with some tough hombres in Rustlers' Valley to clear an innocent man's name and expose the villains. "Texas Trail" (60 min.) - The U.S. Army calls upon Hoppy to collect badly-needed cavalry horses, though a crooked ranch owner and his gang have thwarted previous attempts. In a diabolical set-up, Hoppy is arrested for stealing the rancher's herd, yet manages to devise a plan to stampede the horses onto the Texas Trail and capture the gang!

Hopalong Cassidy - 3 on the Trail / Hopalong Cassidy Returns

Another great double feature from that hero of the wild, wild west, Bill "Hopalong" Cassidy! In "3 on the Trail" (67 min.), an Englishman named Ridley, now turned rancher, announces that his cattle are disappearing, and Hopalong Cassidy helps him track down the rustlers. The second feature, "Hopalong Cassidy Returns" (74 min.), finds Bill on his way to Mesa Grande, where he is the new Marshal. Along the way he stops a runaway horse and saves a woman's life. Upon arriving in town, he discovers his old friend, the town's newspaper editor, has been brutally murdered by the very same woman Hoppy just saved, a hardnosed businesswoman who runs the town.
