Dragon Tales - Believe in Yourself

Dragon Tales - Believe in Yourself by Tim Eldred from Sony Pictures

"LUCKY STONE" Ord has lost his heart-shaped stone that brings him good luck when he does his flying tricks. How will he perform without it? The group splits up to find it and once they do Ord places it safely in his pouch. As he is performing the stone falls to the ground. Ord doesn't notice and continues performing flawlessly. Ord learns that he doesn't need a lucky stone after all. All he has to do is believe in himself! "HEAD OVER HEELS" Quetzals' brother Fernando is sick and Quetzal asks the gang to take him a delicious bowl of gazpacho. However they must pass Trumpy the trollbooth troll and each do one cartwheel to cross the bridge. Emmy doesn't know how to do a cartwheel. With the help of her friends she learns well enough to cross the bridge and they deliver the soup. On the way back the gang learns something surprising about Trumpy! "ON THIN ICE" Quetzal asks Max and Emy and the young dragons to help him surprise his friend Willie the Snow Seal with a birthday song. Zak and Wheezie are excited about the party but Willy lives in a huge icy cave next to a frozen pond and they don't know how to ice skate! Their friends are happy to help them learn. Dragon Tales - Adventures in Dragon Land

Dragon Tales - Adventures in Dragon Land by Tim Eldred from Sony Pictures

Toddlers who regularly tag along with Emmy and Max on their lesson-laden joyrides to Dragon Land via the PBS series DragonTales will devour Adventures in Dragon Land, a five-episode bonanza that also weaves three catchy sing- and dance-along musical segments into the mix. Gathered here are "To Kingdom Come," in which Ord gets a crash course on the benefits of sharing after accidentally cooping himself and the rest of the fire-breathing gang up in a faraway kingdom; "Baby Troubles," about the energy-sapping effects of taking care of even the sweetest infant (in this case, Cassie's little sister, Kiki); "Bad Share Day," a meditation on the sometimes tricky proposition of speaking up for oneself; "Zak Takes a Dive," a Zak- and Weezie-centered episode that exposes Zak's unwillingness to try swimming for what it is--unfounded, fun-spoiling fear; and "The Forest of Darkness," another fear dismantler in which Ord, with help from his friends, conquers the creeps deep into a foreign starlit forest. Most of these 10-minute cartoons will come as repeats for fans, but who's complaining? Kids from 2 to 6 can't get enough of this series, and given its commitment to incorporating thought-provoking predicaments into each episode, caregivers shouldn't mind either. DVD edition special features include English and Spanish audio tracks; English, French, and Spanish subtitles; and several sing-along tunes. --Tammy La Gorce

          Dragon Tales - Let's Share! Let's Play!

Dragon Tales - Let's Share! Let's Play! by Tim Eldred from Sony Pictures

Emmy and her little brother Max learn the basic lessons of young childhood with the help of their dragon buddies in this PBS series. Whenever earthly life gets a little overwhelming or puzzling, the pair chant their way to a make-believe land where the wise elder Quetzal and some young flying lizards help them solve problems. Although two of the five titles use adult word play ("Much Ado About Nodlings," "The Fury Is Out on This One"), the humor and storytelling are strictly for the kids. Cooperation, understanding the consequences of one's actions, sibling compromise, and anger-management lessons for tots are at the top of the agenda. Puppet shows, magical creatures, and Zak and Wheezie (the two-headed brother-sister dragon) help teach the lessons. The advantage of the DVD format is that each 12-minute segment can be viewed independently, without the kids getting tempted by the next episode. The disadvantage: Until the little ones get the hang of the remote controls, you have to be there every 12 minutes to start the next episode. DVD features include three 90-second sing-alongs designed to get the kids up and dancing. (Ages 3 to 7) --Kimberly Heinrichs

QUETZAL'S MAGIC POP-UP BOOK: When the gang usues Quetzal's magic book to make up stories they all talk at once but nobody listens. They soon realize that by taking turns everyone's story gets to be heard. Featuring these songs: "Pretend" and "Zoo".THE FURY IS OUT ON THIS ONE: Max gets mad over a high-flying game of dragon tag. When the Fury gets out of control he learns a few tricks from his friends to help him let off some steam.MUCH ADO ABOUT NODLINGS: Max accidentally breaks the Nodlings' wagon with his bulldozer and without it they're in trouble. When everyone's attempts to fix it fail Max sticks it out determined to correct his mistake. Featuring these songs:"Shake" & "Silly".FOUR LITTLE PIGS: A puppet show runs into trouble when Emmy Zak & Wheezie all want the same part. Finally the friends agree to do what's best for the group and the show goes on.QUIBBLING SIBLINGS: Zak wants the rare Jugglebug for school sharing time but Wheezie's so noisy she scares it away. With Max and Emmy's help the dragons find that working together gets the job done. Dragon Tales - Don't Give Up

Dragon Tales - Don't Give Up by Tim Eldred from Sony Pictures

Max and Emmy, best-loved siblings of the sandbox set, dust off their dragon scale a crowd-pleasing five times for Don't Give Up. From a parent's perspective, that adds up to five recitations of the magic rhyme to come back home until next time, which equals the same count of tricky life lessons tucked into a child's belt. From preschoolers' vantage point, it means a quintuple scoop of dragon play dates amid the show's sherbet-hued scenery. "Pigment of Your Imagination" pits the gang against a broken map; "Backwards to Forwards" sends Dragonland into topsy-turvy tailspins; "Sand Castle Hassle" tests the troop's perseverance as the homes they craft for turtles topple; "Tails You Lose" lets the wind out of Emmy's idea that winning is everything; and "Bully for You" gets to the bottom of what's really bothering a scaly green meanie. A sing-along segment and subtitles sweep this PBS program squarely into satisfaction-guaranteed territory. --Tammy La Gorce

Dragon Tales - It's Cool To Be Me

Dragon Tales - It's Cool To Be Me by Tim Eldred from Sony Pictures

Focusing on accepting and accommodating differences." Not Separated at Birth" -- Zak and Wheezie are bickering over what they'll build for the new playground - the xylophone slide or the drum trampolines. When they wish they had separate bodies, Quetzal gives them some magic crystals -- and their wish comes true! But when Wheezie's slide collapses because she didn't follow directions, she misses Zak's patient input. Zak makes the trampoline so loose and saggy that Cassie and Emmy can't jump on it and he misses Wheezie, who always knows how to make things fun. "The Greatest Show in Dragon Land" -- The kids and dragons are really excited about flying to Wonder World amusement park. When they find out Zak and Wheezie have a broken wing and are unable to fly, however, they agree to accommodate their friends by walking there instead. "A Tall Tale" -- Eunice the unicorn, who is terribly near-sighted, has lost her glasses, and Max and Emmy join the dragons to help her find them. Max wants to steer Eunice so she can see where she's flying, but he's too small to climb up on her back. And when they spot an object that looks like her glasses, he's too short to reach it. Poor Max, who was already feeling frustrated about being too little to do the things he wants, feels even worse. "Dragon Sails" -- The group sets sail for Rainbow Canyon in search of a special rainbow-colored crystal to complete Cassie's shimmering crystal set. When Ord's heavy weight rocks their little boat and they all fall into the water, he's sad because he fears they'll have to continue on their adventure without him. He hates being so big! The gang solves the dilemma by crafting a bigger, Ord-size boat and off they go again. "Staying within the Lines" -- The Stickleback Mountains have lost their colors! They were washed away in a big rainstorm, so Quetzal puts the gang to work painting the scene. Max, who is not worried about staying within the lines, gets carried away with the blue he's using for the stream. As the river threatens to overflow, Emmy and Cassie finish off a boulder dam just in time. The five adventures in Dragon Tales: It's Cool to be Me! are linked by four songs, "Shake Your Dragon Tale," "Hello," "Zoo" and "Round & Round."
