The Powerpuff Girls - The Movie by Craig McCracken from Warner Home Video

This full-length adventure features an animated epic so big so funny and so spectacular that only the Powerpuff Girls can handle it! Created by a perfectly powerful experiment Blossom Bubbles and Buttercup explode into action as the new kids in Townsville! But after one enthusiastic game of tag they nearly destroy their beloved city. Now called social freaks they turn to the mysterious Mojo Jojo for help but this sinister simian has other plans - big plans - like leading an army of evil monkeys to destroy the world! Join the celebration as the Powerpuff Girls save Townsville and the world - for the very first time ... before bedtime!Running Time: 74 min.System Requirements:Running Time 73 MinFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: CHILDREN/FAMILY Rating: PG UPC: 085392301621

The prologue to every Powerpuff Girls show explains how the perky threesome were created in Professor Utonium's lab--by a combination of sugar, spice, and everything nice, along with an accidental dash of Chemical X--but how is it that they started fighting crime? Why didn't they just take their superpowers to the playground and use them for fun? And what's behind evil monkey MoJo JoJo's never-ending quest for Powerpuff vengeance? All questions are answered in The Powerpuff Girls Movie, which details the creation of Blossom (the commander and leader), Bubbles (the joy and laughter), and Buttercup (the toughest fighter) in more depth than ever before, and the result is a speedy, fun joy ride through the girls' early days. At first, the girls are happy-go-lucky, fitting in nicely at Pokey Oaks kindergarten, until a game of tag gets riotously out of hand (destroying the city of Townsville in the process) and they're shunned by the town populace. Alone, they find their only ally in MoJo, a monkey with a peculiarly large brain and a sympathetic nature, but is MoJo really on their side? The 87-minute length doesn't offer the breakneck momentum that regular episodes do, but it's still riotously funny and filled with tons of Powerpuff fighting. Fans may miss the other super villains featured in the show (MoJo's the only bad guy in town, for now), but with the jokes and action coming fast, you'll be pleasantly enraptured by the perky threesome. The Powerpuff Girls - Down 'N' Dirty

The Powerpuff Girls - Down 'N' Dirty from Turner Home Ent

This DVD combines two previous VHS collections.

        Birthday Bash
Sugar, spice, everything nice, and a bit of Chemical X is what it took to bring us Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup--also known as those crime- fighting kindergartners, the Powerpuff Girls. This video collection of five episodes from their hit Cartoon Network show provides a delightfully humorous introduction to the minuscule marvels. The title episode, "Birthday Bash," features the girls defeating the destructive plans of three separate villains (Mojo Jojo, the Princess, and the Amoeba Boys) without ever leaving their own birthday celebration. "Beat Your Greens" introduces us to alien broccoli, and "Stuck Up, Up and Away" shows the origin of the girls' female nemesis, Princess. "School House Rocked" and "Los Dos Mojo" complete the villain cycle by featuring the Gangrene Gang and Mojo Jojo--the ever failing and overdressed monkey--in tales that show us the girls both at school and on the job. A bonus cartoon, "Sheep in the Big City," doesn't feature the Powerpuff Girls but will be enjoyed by their fans for its combination of blatant and intelligent humor, much like the style of the jokes found in all Powerpuff episodes. With a running time of over an hour, this tape is sure to provide its viewers with a good supply of girl power. (Ages 5 and older.) --Zachary Lively

        Dream Scheme
The crime-fighting kindergarteners go after the Sandman, a jealous schoolmate, the usual monsters, and a superhero impostor in this five- episode compilation from the Cartoon Network favorite. The overworked, sleep-deprived Sandman is out of control in the title episode, putting the whole world to sleep so he can get some shut-eye of his own. But the gals thwart him by appearing in his dream and turning it into a nightmare. "Just Another Manic Mojo" finds the hermit monkey trying to destroy the trio with a giant laser when they come to his castle to retrieve their wayward ball. Buttercup refuses to bathe in "Down 'n' Dirty," stinking up Pokey Oaks Kindergarten and grossing out even the villains she battles. Classmate Princess hires Mojo to isolate Chemical X and turn her into a Powerpuff Girl in "Mo Job." And muscle-bound Major Man replaces the girls in the hearts and minds of Townsville when his exploits surpass theirs--but not for long, of course. The 70-minute video includes a bonus episode of "Courage the Cowardly Dog," which involves an eggplant uprising against the dog's vegetable-loving owner, Muriel, in a story called "Journey to the Center of Nowhere." (Ages 7 and older.) --Kimberly Heinrichs

When danger looms in Townsville the call goes out for Bubbles Blossom and Buttercup - The Powerpuff Girls! Under the watchful eye of their mentor Professor Utonium the girls fly into action against a colorful gallery of nefarious villains -- saving the day before bedtime! Created by cartoonist Craig McCracken the series began life as one of Cartoon Network's World Premiere Toons. A chance meeting gives Mojo Jojo Him Fuzzy Lumpkins and Princess the idea to team up to defeat The Powerpuff Girls. Together they create the world's first criminal supergroup the Beat-Alls unleashing an eight-days-a-week wave of crime and mayhem in Townsville. The combined power of the Bad Four creates hard days and nights for Blossom Bubbles and Buttercup who find defeating the Beat Alls to be a long and winding road. Only by enlisting the help of Moko Jojo a mysterious "performance criminal" are the Powerpuff Girls able to curtail the Brutish Invasion. DVD. Recorded in USA. Playtime 80 minutes.Running Time: 120 min.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: CHILDREN/FAMILY UPC: 014764192727

Townsville's cutest cops curb a brutish invasion by a new breed of mop tops in Meet the Beat-Alls, a Powerpuff caper so packed with sly Beatles references it could sink a yellow submarine. Forget the under-15-minute running time--here, Bubbles, Buttercup, and Blossom face the longest and windingest road of their crime-fighting careers, as Mojo Jojo, Him, Princess, and Fuzzy Lumpkins band together to become the Beat-Alls--the Bad Four--a collective that soars to the pole position on the most-wanted charts, sending girls screaming. When the police cry out for help--they need somebody--the girls gather their gumption and go forward with a plan to break up the Beat-Alls: They enlist Moko, a white-costumed monkey with seductive Asian flair, to pose as a performance criminal. Fellow simian Mojo Jojo, who thought he was a loner, goes bananas; soon the other Beat-Alls beat it and the girls bust in and break the news that Mojo's going nowhere, man. All that spoofing doesn't sap the Powerpuffs of their superheroine steam: In "Bought & Scold" they square off against Princess, whose daddy throws down the cash to crown her mayor; in "Bubblevision" they're a sight for sore eyes, even though one of them looks dorky in her new glasses, as a giant ant rips through town; "Jewel of the Aisle" finds them firing away at a gem thief posing as cereal hero Lucky Captain Rabbit King; and demented lout Lenny's plan to possess the Powerpuffs comes crashing down in "Collect Her." If you're old enough to get the gags, allow the title episode to edge out other potential Powerpuff purchases, it's that clever. Otherwise, whatever propels you, rest assured that not one of these episodes will let you down or leave you flat. For children ages 7 and up. --Tammy La Gorce

Cartoon Network Christmas - Yuletide Follies

Cartoon Network Christmas - Yuletide Follies from Turner Home Ent

'Tis the season to be quirky in this aptly named collection of animated Yuletide Follies from the Cartoon Network. There are plenty of favorites here to please fans, such as The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, a tale of woe when winter camp is visited by the sinister Son of Negral, who turns campers into ice sculptures. Equally chilly is Ed, Edd 'n Eddy, the series that stars a trio of tricksters who, in this case, bring Christmas to the cul-de-sac complete with presents and pranks. Girl power reigns when the Powerpuff Girls combat crime in the city of Townsville as Blossom uses her newly acquired ice breath to cool things off a bit. And don't miss the tongue-in-cheek junkyard romp as Courage, the Cowardly Dog, battles a duo of menacing mice, accompanied by a nostalgic rendition of The Nutcracker. Not for the faint of heart, this 60-minute revelry includes nine offbeat tales of irreverent holiday mirth. (Ages 8 and older) --Lynn Gibson

                      Bubblevicious
This trio of crime-fighting superheroines must work around kindergarten obligations, and if you've seen the Cartoon Network series you know they must save the world before bedtime. But they rise to the challenge with the help of their guardian-creator, Professor Utonium. In the Emmy-nominated title episode, Bubbles gets fed up with being "the cute one," while her comrades get the better assignments, so she takes on a series of ugly baddies, resulting in many fires and explosions. There are five episodes on this 60-minute tape, including the double-episode "Uh-Oh Dynamo," which finds the girls battling a monster at the city park. The trio finally vanquishes it from inside a huge robot, but not before the entire downtown appears leveled. In "Mr. Mojo's Rising," the girls must rescue the professor when he is kidnapped by an evil megabrained monkey. "Powerpuff Bluff" introduces three hoodlums who impersonate the girls and rip off Townsville's denizens, landing the real girls a spell in the pokey. "Cat Man Do" will teach youngsters to go the shelter for their pets, as the kitty (voiced by Mark Hamill) the gals "rescue" from a crimelord's compound turns out to be a mind- controlling fiend. Parents scrutinizing violent content, beware; otherwise for ages 7 and up. --Kimberly Heinrichs

                      Monkey See, Doggie Do
The Powerpuff Girls blends strong female figures with striking graphic design to create an action-packed cartoon for 5- to 9-year-olds (although parents should monitor the violent content here). Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup are three kindergartners with superhero powers that help the mayor keep Townsville safe. There are five separate episodes in this hour-long tape. In "Monkey See, Doggie Do," the villainous Mr. Mojo Jojo is systematically turning townspeople into dogs. It's up to the Powerpuff Girls to break the spell--but can they succeed even after Mojo turns them into Powerpups? "Mommy Fearest" paints a frightening picture of Professor Utonium's new date--good thing the Powerpuffs see through her façade! In "Telephonies," crank calls from the Gangrene Gang have the Powerpuff Girls roughing up Mojo, Fuzzy, and Dim when they haven't done anything wrong. You'll never guess who saves the day! If you've ever wondered what the colorful Townsville would be like in black and white, check out "Mime for a Change." When Rainbow the clown gets bleached and becomes the evil Mr. Mime, it's up to the Powerpuff Girls to put the color and sound back into Townsville. The Emmy-nominated "Bare Facts" details the Powerpuff Girls' rescue of the kidnapped mayor. The use of a blank screen with audio to represent the blindfolded mayor's experience and three distinct animation styles to underscore each Powerpuff's version of the rescue is wonderfully effective and shows viewers just how differently Bubbles, Buttercup, and Blossom think. --Tami Horiuchi
