Nick Jr. Baby Curious Buddies - Helping at Home
from Nickelodeon
When children help around the house, it fosters confidence, resourcefulness, and independence--the theme of this 30-minute Nick Jr. Baby program. Music and narration accompany live-action footage of youngsters engaged in worthy tasks, while a handful of pastel-colored animal puppets cheer them on. Short vignettes, appropriate for the brief attention span of wee ones, depict familiar home responsibilities. In one, a girl puts away her toys; in another, a boy washes fruit for a salad. Kids wash the car, sweep the floor, bring in the newspaper, and set the table--visibly satisfied with their accomplishments. Rather than providing instructional detail on various chores, the film's goal is to empower kids to try their hand around the house, and remind parents to let them do so. Animated games enhance a child's skills in matching, sorting, and sequencing; and the curious buddies--an elephant, cat, and so forth--will keep everyone giggling. (Ages 2 to 4) --Lynn Gibson
Targeted at babies ages 12-36 months, CURIOUS BUDDIES: HELPING AT HOME features live action babies and their caretakers are shown talking, playing and helping each other with typical household chores, such as laundry, cleaning and even cooking all while dancing, clapping, laughing and having a great time.
Nick Jr. Baby Curious Buddies - Look and Listen at the Park
from Nickelodeon
Based on the premise that the natural world provides youngsters plenty of opportunities to learn through their senses, Nick Jr. Baby presents Curious Buddies, a 30-minute "play-along" program designed to stimulate babies' social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. While kids care little about such benefits, they'll love the film's live-action footage of boys and girls with brightly smiling faces playing with familiar objects, while a menagerie of pastel colored puppets join the fun. All the action occurs at a neighborhood park where kids slide, climb, swing, jump, and run. In one scene, a bounty of rubber balls keeps toddlers engaged; in another, a peek-a-boo game provides plenty of laughs. Interspersed are loving interactions between mother and baby, and minimal narration reminding youngsters to look, listen, and touch the world around them. The gently paced format is an appropriate segue from playtime to naptime as a handful of soothing, original songs reinforce themes. (Ages 18 months to 3 years) --Lynn Gibson
In CURIOUS BUDDIES: LOOK AND LISTEN AT THE PARK, babies ages 3-18 months will stimulate their senses with all the different things to see, hear and discover at the park. Joining the Curious Buddies, babies can play peek-a-boo, bounce a ball, and even smell the flowers in the park environment.
Nick Jr. Baby Curious Buddies - Exploring at the Beach
from Nickelodeon
Surf's up as the Curious Buddies head to the beach for seaside exploration and discovery in this 30-minute Nick Jr. program combining live action footage, animated games, and kid-friendly music. From swimming and sandcastles to sailboats and surfboards, the sea is an engaging setting for toddlers to learn about the natural world around them. In one scene, kids collect seashells in sand buckets before an on-screen game invites viewers to sort ocean objects into similar groups. In another sequence, schools of tropical fish swim in tidepools, followed by footage of squealing children jumping in waves. An upbeat dance with the Curious Buddies teaches the meaning of "stop" and "go"; later, youngsters are challenged with simple games to develop reasoning skills of comparison, counting, and sequencing. As the sun sets over the sea, viewers will hear one last song about beach walks while watching parents and children stroll the shore and savor some tender memories. (Ages 18 months to 4 years) --Lynn Gibson
CURIOUS BUDDIES: EXPLORING AT THE BEACH is aimed at babies ages 9-24 months and features plenty for the baby to see, hear and feel at the beach. Hear the soothing sound of the waves, play in the sand and discover different creatures living in the sand and sea.
